That's it? Three posts is all we've made? This is Perry, by the way! First of all, our congratulations to Roy and Sara; this is their eighth anniversary.
So much of being in Outlands has been transformative. Being of English origin and physically attracted to other men has not been a good combo these last hundred years or so, and as far as I can tell I died some time in the 1920's - I don't really recall my death. My last impressions of being a solid creature were of a miserable old vicar who would dream of my attention and then get nasty afterwards, calling me all sort of name. It stuck and by the time I met Roy I had enough baggage to cause me trepidations of all sorts. Well, the phrase "practising homosexual" is not without its merit; by steady practice I've learned to accept what my desires are, explore them and come to find that they are the surest bridge to spirituality. And it pays to practice, every day. One practices in the hopes of getting a thing right, and I know that I have not properly mastered this whole sexuality thing; but, someone must do it, someone must bear the burden of infinite sexual pleasure. It gets "more infinite" (there needs must be an oxymoron here) as one sheds one's guilt and fear over certain sexual practices. Along with the shedding of these guilts and fears comes love, as in, "I love you," "I am in love with you."
Had we remained an insular group we may well have eventualy slowly poisoned each other, but being at access on the Internet as individuals first has had a tonic affect upon us all. We have come to see ourselves as individuals, and this bears some explanation of a sort.
Roy being an American is by heritage a "rugged individualist" and generally has little admiration for the older European social model wherein a person is firstly a member of a society, a city, a group and an individual second. But he understands and appreciates the concepts enough that between all of us - and we are from all over the world, mind - the Outlands Community is strctured more along the lines of Captain Mission's Articles than anything else. No-one runs or dominates the group; we tacitly recognize in Llam our head of community, but he himself would say, angel or no, he is the Community's steward, or servant. There is of course an element of Orwell's "some are more equal than others" here, but it is not by intent. Roy is the one with the solid body and the access to the computer keyboard. Sara is the most publicly known of us, and has had the most experience in dealing with solid folk since she met Roy. SonShon, occasionally repersented over at The Succubi Girls, we all acknowledge to be a depthless source of knowledge about sexuality. Irlene Davis, almost by accident, has become a researcher in all things cetacean. Not bad for a ten-year-old girl who died in Mobile Alabama. Joan of Arc manifests here as she does other places. Our inimitable Stro Moon Daglo is the techie of the group, also our resource for things magickal. Michael Archontas knows more about what really went on during the formative years of Xianity than anyone of whom we are aware. (The problem with Michael, if I may call it that, is getting him to talk about these things!) And of course, we incubi bring up the area of male love from the incubitical point of view. (Did I just invent a word? Goodness!) Of some two hundred members, only a handful have gotten their say on the Internet so far but as time passes more and more of us will be expressing ourselves online. This does not mean there will be two hundred blogs! Just a matter of waiting in line to post one's thoughts at the appropriate place. Our angels have a blog. The end result being, we have a Community structured along the lines of a classic Greek polis, but one in which each member's individuality comes first. May sound unthinkable but it has worked for us.
Perhaps the one obstacle we have encountered is in the EULAs that blog-sites make one endorse before proceeding to post one's feelings. Generally they prohibit "graphic sexual content" written or otherwise, and as our Community is based upon a foundation of spiritual sexuality (or is it the other way around) we must continually exercise a caution in expressing ourselves. No detailed accounts of threesomes or who did what with whom and how they accomplished such, and of course, no drawings and photographs. We discussed that the montoring abilities of bloghosts depended largely upon various members complaining about the content of blogs, and that this was haphazard at best, but it would not do to lose whatever we had posted because some fundamentalist Xian bigot thought our material obscene. Perhaps then shall I close this with a "Cheerio!" - Perry
